When the business stalls, experience matters
I work with founders, CEOs and leadership teams when commercial momentum slows or a business is entering a new phase.
That is usually the moment when something important needs to move commercially.
Sometimes progress has slowed.
Sometimes the business is entering a new phase.
Sometimes leadership simply wants experienced commercial judgement around the table.
I work inside the reality of the business as it is. That might mean spending time with the sales team, sitting with leadership to untangle decisions, or helping rethink how the business goes to market.
I have built and scaled businesses myself and have also held senior commercial roles inside established organisations, so the work is practical and hands on.
My career path has never been a conventional one, which means I tend to see things from angles others sometimes miss.
Think of it as bringing experienced commercial capability into the business for the period when it matters most.
Where I'm Most Useful
Experienced commercial leadership, applied where it has the most impact.
I am most useful inside a business as an experienced commercial pair of hands when something important needs to move forward. Typical situations include:
Launching something new
Supporting the business as it introduces a new product, service or market.
Exploring the next commercial move
Helping leadership think through which markets to enter or how the business should evolve commercially.
When sales pressure is building
Sometimes the sales team is under pressure but the reasons are not immediately obvious.
When the market response is unclear
Sometimes the business feels as though things should be landing better in the market but leadership and teams cannot quite see why.
Bringing experienced commercial capability into the team
Sometimes the business simply wants experienced commercial capability alongside the team for a period while things move forward.
Why Business Backrub
There is no shortage of business advice. What is often missing is experienced judgement applied in the real world, under pressure.
I have built and scaled businesses, and I have also stepped into senior commercial roles inside established organisations. I know what it feels like to carry responsibility, make decisions with imperfect information and keep things moving while everything else is changing.
Business Backrub exists for leaders and teams who do not need more theory. They need clarity, steadier momentum and someone who can work alongside them to help things function better in practice.
This is not about fixing from the outside. It is about getting close enough to the work to remove friction, align people and help good decisions stick.

Backrub Bulletin
This space is for observations, ideas and signals that sit alongside my work with leaders and teams.
Not everything here is a framework or a how to. Some pieces explore emerging trends, new tools or ways of thinking that are beginning to influence how people focus, decide and perform at work.
Others are reflections drawn from lived experience inside businesses, noticing patterns before they become obvious or mainstream.
If something sparks a useful question, challenges an assumption, or gives you a different lens on what might be coming next, it belongs here.
